The Custom Process

If you would like to work with Kate Maree to create a custom piece, the process begins here.

Every piece is created through one of three tiers, depending on how you would like to work together.

Tiers

Made To Order

Choose from my signature gold-only designs. These are individually crafted in your chosen size and metal, specifically for you.

This is the most streamlined way to own a Kate Maree piece.

Please allow 4-6 weeks.

Custom

We begin with an existing design, and refine it to reflect your personal style. This may include selecting a specific gemstone, adjusting proportions, changing orientation or choosing your metal.

The result is a piece that feels distinctly yours, while staying true to the design language if the collection.

Please allow 8-12 weeks

Bespoke

A completely original piece.

Designed from the ground up, the bespoke process is a collaborative journey to create something entirely one of a kind. From initial concept through to the final piece, every detail is considered and refined.

Please allow 8-12 weeks

A note on materials

Each pathway can incorporate your own gold or gemstones, allowing your piece to carry both new meaning and existing history.

Using your own materials

Most jewellers send client gold to a refinery, where it is exchanged for store credit and replaced with newly cast metal.

Because I carry out the Lost Wax Casting process in-house, i’m able to melt and reuse your exact gold, incorperating it into your new piece. It is not replaced - it becomes part of the new piece itself.

Made to order

Your gold is melted and recast into one of my signature gold-only designs.

the value of your gold - based on its weight and karat - is calculated at current market rates and deducted directly from the final price.

Custom

Your gold and/or gemstones are integrated into a refined version of an existing Kate Maree design.

Pricing is guided by the original design, with adjustments made depending on your choice of metal, stone, and any design changes.

As a guide, most custom pieces sit within a similar range to those shown on the website.

If you were using completely your own materials (stone and gold) - prices to remodel start from NZD $1600, depending on complexity.

Bespoke

Your materials become the foundation of a completely one-of-a-kind piece.

because each design is developed from the around up, pricing varies depending on the complexity of the piece, the materials used, and the level of detail involved.

Bespoke projects typically begin from NZD $3000, with the final price confirmed once the design has been developed.

A Practical Guide

Gold

Most solid gold can be resused, including 9ct, 10ct, 14ct and 18ct. Pieces are melted and recast as part of the making process

Gemstones

Many gemstones can be reused. Each stone is assessed to ensure it is suitable for resetting

If there isn’t enough gold

Additional gold can be added if needed to complete a piece.

How gold value is applied

The value of your gold is calculated based on its weight and karat, using the current spot price. The amount is deducted directly from the final price of your piece.

  • "I honestly couldn't recommend Kate Maree more. She remade my wedding band using the diamondsfrom my original ring and gold from my late Nana's jewellery, and the result is something I'll treasure forever. She handled such sentimental pieces with so much care and respect, and the craftmanship is absolutely beautiful. "

  • "Ive followed Kate since she began her journey sharing her beautiful creations. Her story, passion and eye for detail really make her stand out amongst the rest. She thoughtfully created a custom ring for me, with my precious ruby and some old gold. With her signature style, I now have my own piece of Kate Maree jewellery to wear and pass on to my daughter one day."

    Zara, Customer

  • "Kate is genuinely delightful to engage with. Kate is beyond kind and attentive to details. I found a piece of jewellery she had created that encapsulated special meaning for me, I love to wear it and and will treasure it for many years in memory of my husband and to celebrate my son's birth.
