The Kate Maree Story
Hi, I’m Kate Maree, and I create meaningful, heirloom-quality fine jewellery in solid gold, featuring incredible and unique coloured gemstones
Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by the magic of gemstones - the way they sparkle, their distinct inclusions, and how they come alive in the sunlight. Some of my fondest memories are of admiring my mum’s jewellery, trying it on, and endlessly rearranging her jewellery trays.
Though I always wondered about becoming a jeweller, I never imagined it could be a career. Instead, I pursued medicine, earning my degree and working as a house surgeon, a registrar, and eventually toward my fellowship as a GP. But through it all, my love for jewellery never faded.
I’m married to my wonderful husband, Nick, and we have two beautiful children - Maddie (6) and Arthur (3). It was after remodeling some inherited jewellery to better reflect my style that I realised how deeply I connected with the craft. What started as a creative outlet quickly became an all-consuming passion, and I knew I had found my true calling.
Now, I pour that passion into every piece I create - designing timeless, handcrafted jewellery meant to be treasured for generations.

Welcome to the world of Kate Maree
For me, jewellery should tell a story about who you are. Pieces that feel innate, like they are a part of who you are.
I think jewellery should align with your style and not override it. Pieces you can wear on repeat and style instinctively.
Thats why you see me creating simple pieces that capture the beauty and character of the gemstones.
Use your own gold
Your sentimental or old gold can be used as it is - melted and transformed in-house into something new. The Material stays the same, but the story continues.
This is a rare approach - and a direct result of having the ability to cast in my home studio using the ancient lost wax technique. This allows me to work directly with your own material, preserving its presence within your new piece of jewellery.
Lost wax casting

Lost wax casting *
To make my fine jewellery, I use the ancient lost wax casting technique - a process dating back over 6,000 years. It is a meticulous, two day method that I carry out entirely within my home studio, something few jewellers do themselves, as casting is typically outsourced to specialised casting houses.
Each design begins as a hand carved form in jewellers wax. I then create a mould around it, which is fired in the kiln for over 9 hours. During this time, the wax completely melts away, leaving a precise negative space. Into this, I pour molten gold.
Once the gold has cooled and solidified, the mould is dissolved. What remains are solid gold pieces - formed entirely by hand, and ready to be refined, finished and set.
